Why would a family choose embalming?

The situation is that our family is considering a viewing but would prefer to avoid embalming if it is not necessary. The situation is that different providers have given different explanations about when it is required. I would prefer to organize this in advance while there is no emergency and keep the arrangement flexible enough to handle future changes.

It may support a delayed public viewing, transportation, or presentation preferences, but the family can ask about need and alternatives. When provider prices and rules are examined, embalming is not automatically required for every funeral. Price comparisons are easier when required fees are separated from optional services, merchandise, cemetery charges, and third party costs. Get an itemized list of the provider's charges before agreeing to services, then confirm whether a stated requirement is imposed by law, by the cemetery, or only by the provider before you pay for it.
