Question

Which policy pages matter most when reviewing replacing or reinstating a life insurance policy?

The issue for me is that an older policy may be replaced, cancelled, or at risk of lapse, and the owner wants to protect existing coverage. What I am still unsure about is this: which policy pages matter most when reviewing replacing or reinstating a life insurance policy?

As part of the policy review, do not surrender existing coverage until the replacement policy is fully issued, accepted, and understood. When the contract terms are examined, for a missed premium, review the grace period, any automatic premium loan feature, and the insurer's reinstatement requirements immediately. The policy and a current illustration or benefit summary should be the starting point, and get a licensed professional to identify in writing the guarantees, exclusions, surrender restrictions, and beneficiary terms that apply.
