Question

What should be included in a financial plan?

At the moment, I am considering hiring a financial professional for the first time. At the moment, I want help with retirement, investments, taxes, and estate related decisions, but I am seeing many different titles and business models and cannot tell which services I actually need. For context, the decision could affect roughly $110,000 in my situation, so I want to compare the tradeoffs instead of using a rule of thumb.

A useful plan often covers spending, reserves, debt, investing, insurance, taxes, retirement, and estate coordination. When the options are compared, a financial plan connects cash flow, savings, investments, insurance, taxes, retirement, and estate goals. Put the decision into a written plan that shows cash flow, time horizon, taxes, liquidity, and downside risk before money is committed.
