My uncle died with a will, but the person he named as executor has refused to serve and none of the close relatives wants the job. What happens when nobody named in the will or family wants to administer the estate? Can the court appoint a professional or another neutral person, and who pays for that work?

The court may appoint another eligible person or a professional fiduciary, and fees may be paid from the estate. For the issue described here, an executor can often decline before accepting the appointment and may be able to resign later with court approval.
