My mother asked me to be executor of her will, and I said yes without really knowing what the job involves. I understand the executor eventually distributes property, but I assume there is more to it than that. What responsibilities normally come before beneficiaries are paid, and how much paperwork, record keeping, and court involvement should an executor expect?
