Question

Should I keep a separate account for final expenses?

As things stand, a large part of my family's wealth is tied up in property or a business rather than cash. As things stand, I am thinking about what happens when an estate has bills, taxes, maintenance, and professional fees before those assets can be sold. Someone else in my family is relying on how I handle this choice, which makes access to cash, tax effects, and flexibility especially important.

A reserve can help, but account ownership and beneficiary designations should allow lawful access at the right time. For this planning decision, estate liquidity is the cash available to pay taxes, debts, administration costs, support needs, and property expenses after death. When the options are compared, a plan that holds mostly real estate or a business may need insurance, reserves, borrowing options, or a sale strategy.
