Should I invest an inheritance right away?

Right now, I recently received an inheritance after losing a close relative. Right now, I do not want grief or pressure from family to push me into a fast decision. The part I am trying to resolve is how to pause, organize the money, and decide what comes first.

Within the broader financial plan, before investing an inheritance, set aside money for near term needs, taxes, debt decisions, and an emergency reserve.
