I am trying to decide how much effort to put into avoiding probate. People describe it as extremely expensive, but I also know some estates are simple and may not involve major disputes. Is probate always costly, or do the expenses depend more on the size of the estate, local court rules, attorney fees, property sales, and family conflict?
