Question

Is employer life insurance enough?

For context, most of my current life insurance is through work. For context, it is inexpensive and convenient, but I may change jobs or retire and do not know how portable or permanent the coverage is. Before making a coverage decision, I want to know exactly what the contract provides.

Compare the benefit with actual survivor needs and consider what happens if employment ends. For a coverage review, employer life insurance can be valuable, but coverage may be limited, tied to employment, or priced differently as the employee ages. For a coverage review, personal coverage can provide portability and more control over amount and duration. The written policy and a current illustration should anchor the review, and get a licensed insurance professional to confirm in writing any applicable guarantee, exclusion, rider, or surrender restriction.
