Does funeral insurance follow me if I move?

As things stand, I may move to another city or state after making funeral arrangements. As things stand, I want a plan that my family can still use without losing most of what was paid. I am taking a close look at the contract or price list because small choices can increase the total quickly and some costs may be passed through from outside vendors.

An insurance policy may remain in force, though assignment and provider arrangements should be updated. Get the provider's prices in itemized written form, and make sure any claimed requirement is traced to law, cemetery policy, or the provider's own rule before money changes hands. When provider prices and rules are examined, portability determines whether a prepaid funeral arrangement can be used at another funeral home or after a move. As part of the arrangement review, funding may be transferable even when the original goods and service contract is not, so both documents should be reviewed.
