Do I need a financial plan if I am not wealthy?

Right now, I am considering hiring a financial professional for the first time. Right now, I want help with retirement, investments, taxes, and estate related decisions, but I am seeing many different titles and business models and cannot tell which services I actually need. The part I am trying to resolve is how to choose and evaluate a financial planner.

Planning can be valuable whenever income, debt, family needs, retirement, or major decisions compete for limited money. Within the broader financial plan, a financial plan connects cash flow, savings, investments, insurance, taxes, retirement, and estate goals. For the household plan, it should show assumptions, priorities, tradeoffs, and actions rather than offering only a product recommendation.
