When should I update my will?

Update your will after any major life change, such as marriage, divorce, the birth or adoption of a child, a death in the family, or a big change in your assets. Moving to a new state is another good prompt, since laws vary. Even without big changes, it's wise to review it every few years to make sure it still reflects your wishes. Outdated wills can cause real problems for your heirs.
